Can I send an invoice before the customer comes in?
Yes — this is one of the most popular features for auto shops. From your Clover dashboard or virtual terminal, you enter the RO total and the customer's email. They receive a secure payment link, pay by card from their phone, and you see it clear instantly. The vehicle is paid for before they ever walk in the door.
What if I need to take a card number over the phone?
The MBI virtual terminal handles this. Log in to your dashboard from any browser, enter the card number, expiration, CVV, and billing zip, enter the amount, and submit. It's the same process as swiping — just typed in instead. AVS verification reduces fraud risk on keyed transactions.
Can I store fleet account cards and bill them repeatedly?
Yes. Clover's card-on-file feature lets you store an authorized card for a fleet customer or repeat account. When an RO is ready, you pull up the account and charge the stored card — no need to call for the number each time. Tokens are used, so the actual card number is never stored on your system.
How does dual pricing work for an auto shop?
Dual pricing posts a standard price (which includes the processing fee built in) and offers a lower cash price. Customers who pay cash or debit save money; customers who pay by credit card pay the posted price. The net result is that you keep more of every repair job. MBI handles the compliance setup — the program is fully legal when implemented correctly.
